Thank you mystery man!
Actually it was a kitchen fire down the hall from us that evacuated a couple hundred people from their warm apts. Some Irish grad student who was "just trying to fry up something to eat." The alarm, i was pleased to note, was not that awful sounding. E had just sat down in her chair but signed "all done" thinking we might leave without her. It was nice to know we were able to get everybody suited for 20 degree weather in about 2 minutes.
