oh yeah, happy mother's day

I got a couple gifts last Mother's Day while in my first trimester and felt like a complete fraud by the end of the day. The flowers even knew the right thing to do was to shrivel up and die the day after I planted them.

This year, I nearly forgot the holiday. It has registered that I have a daughter, but the fact that I am somebody's mom is still a far out notion. Anyway, since my mom is out of the country for the next month, today I say three cheers to EVERY woman who ever loved a person even when it was a pain in the neck to do so. You are beautiful.

So here's an update on Life O' Emmy along with some classics to show how far she's come along.

sicky sicky

Been sick. Here's the very last photo we took of E before this flu ruined my life. A bit cuter than I'm looking right now.

Mike tried to cheer me up yesterday by pointing out that I might lose some pregnancy pounds. Can you imagine. I almost don't want to write those evil words here in case it actually inspires someone. I don't want to be responsible for hundreds of women sneaking away from the maternity ward to some other wing of the hospital to see if they might "catch" something and shed a few pounds.

Anyway, my mom's been helping a LOT, cleaning, making me tea, keeping our fridge chock full, etc. The lesson I've taken from all this is: don't get sick in Boston.
